You have all probably read the headlines today, that ATT has slashed the price of the iPhone 3GS to $49 bucks.  While its not super news worthy in itself, what is newsworthy are the reasons behind it.  First, we got a tip from a fan that in the Apple Store the 3GS is still $99.  So, ATT has slashed the price but Apple has not.  Second, ATT just killed it at CES 2011 with the announcement of a major shift to Android this year for their smartphone lineup.  We believe ATT has just confirmed, not only with the abundance of Android devices hitting their network this year, but with this “random” price drop, the existence of an iPhone for Verizon.  Is this definite?  Nothing in this industry is guaranteed.  Hell the BlackBerry Storm 9570 was literally weeks away from release before being canned.  But this seems likely to pan out.
