Exclusive: Gears of War 3 Beta Authentication Key Out In The Wild

Posted on Mar 21 2011 - 9:29am by Bryan

You have to love a Monday morning that brings with it some very interesting news.  The same person, who will remain anonymous, who brought us Gears of War 3 info well before Epic announced it, as well as beta info well before that announcement as well, has just brought us something very juicy indeed.  We are being told that the authentication key used to verify beta access has been found in the wild.  What does this mean?

It means that if you so happen to have this key, and are able to copy it over to your Xbox 360 correctly, you will be able to authenticate your console and it will grab the beta once its available for download.  I dont personally think Epic Games is to concerned over this as the more data they can receive during beta play the better, you have to wonder how secure these files can be.  We can verify that they key is correct as our source sent it to us.  Before you ask no we will absolutely not post it or give it out.

We have reached out to Epic Games and when/if we hear back from them will let you know.

    I want I want!!

Luckily I was able to get my hands on a beta key not five minutes ago… I missed the initial giveaways due to being at work, but now I’ve received my key.

I don’t know if any more keys are remaining on the site, but for those still needed one, here’s the site for you guys to try:

  • Redlogic

I was hoping the key would be in the article!! :P

  • Connor

I don’t know why you even have it then, you’re just wasting it… But whatever

  • Connor

Now that I think about it you are not in the right by holding it, you are only further strengthening the monopoly that is Gamestop. If I wanted to play the beta (which I very much wish i could) I would have to preorder it from them, instead of where I have gotten it now (which is Amazon). I hope you reconsider, it would be the fair thing to do.

    • Ryasha

You could just pre-order the game at Gamestop for the beta code and then after gaining access to it, just cancel the pre-order. Use some ‘clever’ excuse like “I was disappointed in the beta so I no longer wish to own the game”

      • Connor

My friend that worked at a gamestop did this for betas, though you don’t get the $5 back. So why should I have to pay another $5 for something that other people get for free? Just because there is no store close enough to me I have to pay more?

        • Connor

I don’t know you Bryan, but it’s a shame you won’t even bother to listen to what I have to say. You would rather find ways to confirm your opinions than to question them. Do you think my argument has no grounds?

        • Legion

You can just transfer that $5 to a different game on reserve endlessly.

        • Ryasha

Don’t know what piss-poor gamestop your friend worked at but I’ve ALWAYS gotten my money back when I cancel a preorder, beta or not.

  • Smoke

Then why even bring it up besides to make the fanboys beg you for it? Pretty pointless.

If anyone’s still interested in getting a Gears Of War 3 beta key, I found some being handed out on a blog.

I don’t know if any of the keys are left, but you can try here:
