One of the biggest phone rumors in history, which spanned a few years now, has to be the iPhone launching on Verizon.  This past February that rumor finally came true, and for many, the ability to hold a call on their beloved iPhone was possible (at least we thought so).   Now we have word of how well the phone sold for Verizon’s launch, and while crossing the 1 million mark sounds good, its nothing compared to ATT’s iPhone 4 day 1 launch numbers of around 1.7 million.

We have a good idea though why these numbers were not higher.  For starters, it’s being said “unofficially” that Verizon’s preorders numbered in the 600,000 range and that number came in at about 60% of total sales since day 1.  If true, not many non Verizon customers were looking to buy the phone just yet.  You can also thank the fact that an iPhone 5 launch is a short few months away.
