So have you ever wondered what it means “It’s a Jeep thing.”? Well I have figured it out and completely understand. I got the joy of driving a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4X4 and even though its name is really long it’s worth it. The Sahara is the middle child in the Jeep line up with the Unlimited Rubicon being the biggest kid. Now even though it’s the middle it has a ton of perks for which I will break down in my review.
First off, I have to say Jeep has done the right thing with sticking with the tried and true design that everyone and their grandpa remembers. Now with this they have modernized it over the course of the years keeping with of course safety standards and personal comforts. But it is still a rugged beast when it comes to off-roading.
On the inside you have leather seats, leather dash, Uconnect 730N (CD/DVD/MP3/NAV/40GB HDD) all in a 6.5” touch screen display. With all this in there I am sure you are thinking “well this isn’t very rugged at all it’s turning into a family vehicle.” Well it is good for the family it has enough seating for five and 40/60 foldable rear seats for cargo. But it’s not shy about showing its teeth with a 3.6L V6 VVT engine under the hood.
When it comes to ride to be honest it’s what you expect from a Jeep not the most comfortable but you don’t want a lot of travel in your suspension when off-roading. Also for off-roading they have put skid plates over your transfer case and fuel tank so even if you hit a rock the vital parts are protected.
Now when it comes to summer time you are in a Jeep so the big option is do you take the roof off all together or put the black leather top on. Either way this is the ultimate summer cruiser to the beach or the cottage. The one big drawback I found with the Jeep was the fuel economy now it wasn’t great but certainly wasn’t the worst I have had in city I got around 13L/100km (21MPG) and highway was 10L/100km (28MPG).
So if you want an off-road vehicle and still want to be able to do day to day tasks then go down to your Jeep dealership and give one a drive!
