The news that Facebook had acquired Oculus VR for $2 billion sent shockwaves through the gaming community. In light of the social network giant’s $19 billion purchase of WhatsApp it seems like a clever and innovative move for Facebook, but many saw the deal as a potential ending to Oculus’ focus on gaming. The virtual reality headset could change the way we play, allowing us to step into games for a completely immersive experience. The Crystal Cove prototype, which debuted at CES 2014, featured reduced motion blur, a pin-sharp wraparound...

At the turning point when mobile phones stopped being embarrassing and suddenly became cool – sometime around 1996 – the idea that one day we’d be playing hi-def games on big touchscreen devices seemed like science fiction. With the holiday’s near some of us are a bit wiser in our video game buying, as age and knowledge has taught us “never buy a new generation console right away”.  Actually.. Let’s change that to “time to move on from traditional consoles completely” as those of us on a budget realize consoles suck the money right out of you.  If you fall into the same category but still enjoy playing video games Steam is where all the cool kids are hanging out today.  Free to download, install, sign up and play.  All...
