Here is the GizmoFusion list for our top 7 laptops to play Overwatch on.
MSI GE63 Raider (Super smooth at highest graphics settings)
CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS 144Hz | Storage: 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD | Battery: 5 Hours | Dimensions: 15.08 x 10.24 x 1.16 inches | Weight: 5.51 lbs
Great CPU and GPU
Lots of RAM
Gets a little loud at full load
As the first laptop on our list, we have the MSI GE63 raider, a powerhouse of a gaming machine that will crush any title, including Overwatch.
Its insane specs and glorious display make this laptop the number one overall machine on this list. Firstly, the CPU, the almighty Intel Core i7-9750H Hexa-core processor. This absolute beast of a CPU spreads out tasks across its 6 cores allowing for huge amounts of multitasking to be done.
Furthermore, it supports Intel Hyper-Threading technology which means that there are two threads per core that act like virtual cores. This allows for even better multitasking abilities and significantly improves the performance of the PC whether it be in the desktop running background programs, editing videos, or gaming.
To outperform the competition in terms of FPS in games, we have the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 GPU, an amazing piece of hardware.
It will be able to run any AAA title at over 150 FPS, which is huge. Most importantly, Overwatch will be able to run at 250 to 300 FPS at the maximum graphics preset. The GPU is extremely powerful and future proof.
This is currently the best gaming GPU on the market available for laptops. Other than gaming the GPU will do great when rendering graphics, and generally, anything that requires GPU power.
“What about the RAM?”, you might ask. The memory on this laptop is excellent, 32GB of DDR4 2666Mhz memory for even better multitasking! The memory is exceptional for being able to quickly switch between apps, get better boot times, and get back into your apps as quickly as possible after sleep mode.
This can be especially helpful when, for example, you work on the laptop, close the lid (which puts it into sleep mode) and then reopen it later, you will be able to instantly start working again without any slowdowns or loading times.
The situation with the storage is also superb, it has 512GB of PCIe SSD and 1TB HDD of space. Having 1.5TB of storage makes it easy to store many files, games, and programs while still having storage left, that much storage lasts for months and even years.
Knowing that it is a PCIe SSD, the boot times and file transfers on this machine will be extremely fast, solid-state drives are hugely faster than traditional hard drives, and they are a must for modern laptops. Then for other files such as video, text, and audio content you can use the HDD for.
The display on this machine is a crisp and clear FHD 1920 x 1080 resolution for viewing content with sharp images and has no blurring.
The display incorporates an IPS panel, meaning that colors on it will be vibrant, accurate, and high in contrast. Since Overwatch is a very colorful game in nature, that IPS panel will create a much more immersive and fun experience.
The viewing angles with that panel are very wide, meaning that whether you look at the display from the side or straight ahead, the colors will retain its vibrancy. But the most important part about this display is the refresh rate which is 144Hz.
Most screens and monitors are 60Hz, and higher refresh rates mean that higher FPS can be displayed. If your monitor is 60Hz, it can only output 60FPS. With the RTX 2080 GPU, Overwatch can run at 300 FPS at maximum graphics settings, and the display will output 144 FPS. This gives you the best, butter-smooth experience.
The laptop’s design is very futuristic and you can tell that it is a gaming machine just by looking at it. It is covered with a brushed aluminum texture around the keyboard and on top of the lid which looks very modern.
It has a great, rugged-looking RGB keyboard. On top of the lid, there are 2 RGB strips in the shape of an “L” which adds to this laptop’s style points. It has some subtle red accents around it, as this is an MSI laptop.
It is also durable, MSI does lots of drop and pressure testing for its laptops, and this one is no exception.
It has a great cooling system for the components, although it does get a little loud. Overall, this laptop is a great machine for gaming, and productivity, and especially multitasking.
It has many features such as its specs, display, and design which make it stand out as the overall number one laptop on this list.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus M (Runs fast at near highest graphics settings)
CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q | RAM: 16GB DDR4 | Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS 240Hz | Storage: 1TB SSD | Battery: 4 Hours | Dimensions: 14.17 x 9.92 x 0.78 inches | Weight: 4.39 lbs
Great CPU and GPU
Lots of RAM
Huge amount of storage
Very light and thin
Fans are loud
Gets hot at full load
This ASUS laptop is extremely powerful and capable of many tasks while remaining thin and lightweight.
Many things make this laptop great. Boasting a core i7-9750H, it excels in CPU intensive tasks and programs. Using its 6 cores and 12 threads for multitasking and faster processing.
It is a beast of a CPU which will come in handy when gaming, editing, and running any program. It is one of the best CPUs available for gaming laptops at this moment in time and will provide an unbeatable price to performance relation.
It pairs well with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q as it is a phenomenal GPU. Allowing for hundreds of FPS in any AAA game title, and over 250 FPS on Overwatch.
Having 8GB of GDDR6 memory it allows for faster completion of GPU intensive processes and allowing it to render faster.
The Max-Q version is the thinner, lighter version of the original RTX 2070. It is slightly worse in terms of FPS, but not by much, a 20 FPS difference at max which isn’t much considering that you’re getting 200+ FPS.
The RAM consists of 16GB of DDR4 memory. It is a great amount for heavyweight, high-end multitasking with demanding software such as any of the programs in the Adobe suite such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. Generally, a large amount of RAM helps the PC in any task, whether it be gaming, editing videos, and multitasking.
One marvelous detail about this laptop is the storage. It consists of a whole TB of high-speed SSD storage. It allows for lots of games, programs, and files to be stored continuously for years without worrying about the drive filling up too quickly.
SSDs are miles faster than traditional HDDs which allows for boot times of under 20 seconds and insanely quick file transfers of up to 4GB per second. It’s a very modern and high-end drive which will serve well for anyone who needs lots of space.
The best part about this machine, however, is the display. There are many remarkable things about it, a Full-HD 1080p IPS 240Hz. 1080p displays are great, as they produce very high-quality images due to the high resolution of the screen.
An IPS panel in a display means that it will have the most accurate, vibrant, and overall appealing colors. Also, the viewing angles on it are great, wherever the screen is looked at from, it retains the same colors in the best form.
The best thing about this screen is the 240Hz refresh rate. Most displays are 60Hz, meaning they output at max 60 FPS. Great displays are 144Hz, which obviously means they output 144 FPS. This display is a whopping 240Hz! With the power of the RTX 2070 Max-Q, Overwatch can run at 240+ FPS, and the display outputs the full framerate which gives the absolute smoothest experience.
The laptop is designed very meticulously with portability in mind. As said before, it is a very thin and lightweight machine even with its great specs.
The top of the lid is diagonally split into two brushed aluminum textured parts, one light grey, and one dark grey. The keyboard is sleek and simple. A very low-profile keyboard with RGB lighting makes the laptop look very professional and appealing.
Each ASUS laptop is drop and pressure tested which means the laptop has guaranteed durability.
The laptop is advertised as having a powerful cooling system, however, the laptop does seem to get a bit hot. This isn’t great, as if the laptop gets too hot, it will start to thermal throttle, meaning that it will worsen its performance to compensate for the heat.
The fans are also very loud when at full load. Other than that, the laptop is a very capable machine that looks great and is very lightweight.
Acer Helios Predator 300 (Smooth at high graphics settings)
CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q | RAM: 16GB DDR4 | Screen: 17.3-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS 144Hz | Storage: 512GB SSD | Battery: 6 Hours | Dimensions: 15.89 x 11.02 x 0.97 inches | Weight: 6.39 lbs
Great CPU and GPU
Lots of RAM
A little loud
Not enough storage for some
This beast of a laptop packs a punch with its exceptional specs, brilliant display, and eye-catching design.
Starting with a powerful Intel Core i7-9750H Hexa-core CPU. As said before, this CPU is one of the best processors available, especially for gaming. It allows for lots of multitasking with its six cores and twelve threads.
With Intel Hyper-Threading technology, each thread acts as a virtual core by using two threads per core. Programs and processes can be split on each thread, and if necessary across multiple threads, the possibilities are endless, whether it be running many processes, or rendering a big project.
It incorporates the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU which is a version of the RTX 2070 made for slimmer laptops. Although it is a little weaker than the regular RTX 2070, it is still a powerhouse of a card.
It outputs over 120 FPS on any modern AAA game title, and over 250 FPS on Overwatch at the maximum graphics settings preset. With its 8GB of GDDR6 memory, the card is useful for any GPU intensive task, including rendering.
It works very well with the Core i7 CPU, as those two go hand in hand for gaming and productivity.
The RAM is awesome on this laptop with 16GB of DDR4 memory, lots of space for multitasking and switching between apps. There’s not much to say about this other than 16GB is a lot, and will work very well when using multiple apps at once.
The storage on this is debatable. On one hand, there is half of a TB of SSD storage which sounds great, and it is. Lots of space for files, programs, and games with the added speed of an SSD satisfies many people, however, some may consider this too little.
With programs and games growing in size, some may not consider this enough storage for their needs. You might consider getting an external hard drive or flash drive to expand the storage of this machine.
As with the other laptops on this list, the display is marvelous. It is a 17.3-inch Full-HD 1080p IPS 144Hz display, a mouthful, to say the least. A 1080p screen allows for content to be viewed at a high resolution for crisp and clear images without blurring.
IPS panels produce the most accurate and vibrant colors for displays, but more importantly, they produce wide viewing angles which means that looking at the screen from the front or the sides, it still retains its bright colors.
Unlike traditional 60Hz displays, this one is 144Hz allowing for the smoothest possible experience. Paired with the RTX 2070 Max-Q, outputting high FPS on Overwatch will allow you to see it in full 144 FPS, which is incredibly smooth and is a huge difference from 60Hz.
The PC has a very appealing design, it’s obvious that the laptop is meant for gaming, but it isn’t so much in-your-face as the design of the number one laptop on this list.
It does have an RGB keyboard with a modern font which looks great. The chassis is matte plastic and has an angular design with a predator logo on the inside of the lid close to the keyboard. It’s simple, yet eye-catching and not distracting.
The cooling system for the CPU and GPU are very powerful, therefore they stay cool, however, this creates noticeable fan noise. But that isn’t a problem that a headset can’t solve, so this shouldn’t be anything too bad.
Another reason to use headphones on this laptop is the god-awful speakers, they are placed on the bottom of the laptop facing down, so it will sound muffled. They make loud crackling and buzzing noises when at full volume too. Again, just use headphones, and it will avert all the problems.
Overall, the laptop is a high-quality, reliable, and well-built piece of machinery that is great for both gaming and productivity.
ASUS Rog 15.6” (Will run very well at medium graphics settings or OK at higher settings)
CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS 120Hz | Storage: 1TB SSD + 2TB HDD | Battery: 3 Hours | Dimensions: 14.2 x 10.8 x 1 inches | Weight: 5.29 lbs
Great CPU and GPU
Tons of RAM
HUGE amount of storage
Short battery life
This is another ASUS laptop on our list, and for a good reason. It is an upgraded version of the original laptop which provides exceptional value.
The ASUS ROG 15.6” is an amazing laptop for the price, and therefore takes the spot of the best value laptop on the list, as such amazing performance for the price is difficult to rival.
It has the beastly Intel Core i7-9750H, just like the laptops above on this list. It provides unrivaled performance with its 6 cores and 12 threads. Using Intel Hyper-Threading technology it allows for huge amounts of multitasking with CPU-heavy processes by splitting them across the many threads.
With a boost clock of up to 4.5Ghz, it completes processes and calculations at extreme speeds allowing for great performance on the desktop, programs, and games.
Coupled with it comes the Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU, the PC will perform great in gaming and GPU-heavy programs and tasks. It allows Overwatch to run at a smooth 130-140 FPS on high graphics settings, and 80-90 on maximum settings.
It is widely known that the GTX 1650 provides great price to performance, and this is true, AAA game titles can run at 60+ FPS on high, and sometimes ultra settings. Since it got released in 2019, the card is future-proof and will be great for a long time.
The RAM is one of the things that is upgraded on this PC, instead of 16GB, it has been increased to a whopping 32GB of DDR4 memory.
The laptop hugely benefits from this, a high amount of RAM is one of the things that make the machine run smoother. It allows for advanced multitasking with many programs and games, lets you seamlessly switch between those apps, and takes stress off of the CPU and storage with file transfers.
Overall, the RAM upgrade will tremendously improve the experience of the laptop, and allow even better multitasking than 16GB of memory.
The storage is the second part of the laptop that has been upgraded, and it is a huge upgrade. The original laptop had a 512GB SSD, but the upgrade replaces it with 1TB of SSD storage AND 2TB of HDD space.
3TB of storage is juicy and will last years and allow us to store thousands of files, programs, and games.
The 1TB of SSD storage is extremely fast, meaning that the operating system is on it, making boot times shorter than 20 seconds. File transfers and loading speeds are speedy also, the best idea would be to store games on it so loading them up will be fast. The HDD can be used for programs and just general files.
The display on the laptop is brilliant, nothing beats an IPS FHD 1080p 120Hz display. It is a full-HD resolution for crisp and clear image quality which is great for both gaming and productivity.
Combined with the IPS panel, it allows for the best, brightest colors and the widest viewing angles. The most important part is the 120Hz refresh rate which allows for it to output the full 120 FPS. With the GTX 1650, Overwatch can run at 120 FPS at high settings, so the 120Hz screen will provide the smoothest experience.
The design on this laptop is just beautiful. It looks modern and sleek while looking professional and satisfying. This is honestly the best-looking laptop on this list.
The area where the keyboard sits is split into two parts, a diagonal brushed aluminum texture, and a turned version of that same texture, which just looks amazing and unique.
On top of it sits an RGB keyboard with a nice retro-ish font, and the W, A, S, and D keys are emphasized.
It has cooling vents at the back of it which are functional but look impeccable with their rugged design.
There is an RGB light bar at the bottom of the laptop providing a cool underglow, a quirky design choice, albeit unnecessary for some (it can stay on when the lid is closed). The lid is also covered with the split brushed aluminum texture with the ROG logo on it.
Its battery life is a little low at only 3 hours of gaming, but other than that, this laptop is an amazing piece of hardware of insane value for the price and is recommended to anyone with a desire for huge amounts of storage and a beautiful design.
Dell Alienware M15 (Decent at medium settings, slow on high settings)
CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 | RAM: 16GB DDR4 | Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS | Storage: 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD | Battery: 6 Hours | Dimensions: 14.3 x 10.8 x 0.71 inches | Weight: 4.78 lbs
Great CPU and GPU
Lots of RAM
Huge amount of storage
60Hz refresh rate
This Dell Alienware laptop is a machine that stands out from the competition with its specs and design.
It’s powered by the Intel Core i7-8750H which is an earlier generation of the i7-9750H. It is less powerful, yet still has similar specs to the 9th generation i7. It incorporates the same 6 cores and 12 threads and has a lower clock speed to it. It still manages to crush any CPU heavy task.
It uses the GTX 1060 GPU for great FPS on any AAA title, especially on Overwatch. At maximum graphics settings, Overwatch runs at 100+ FPS which is outstanding, it outperforms the GTX 1650 and allows it to have better performance in both gaming and productivity.
The RAM on this laptop is the standard for this price range at 16GB of DDR4 memory. It’s great for multitasking with difficult to run programs, and generally improve its performance. It’s great to have such a large amount of RAM, as it improves the overall power of the machine.
The storage on this system is phenomenal at 1.5 TB of space. It includes 512GB of SSD for the OS to get faster boot times and store games to load them faster and 1TB of HDD storage for the hundreds of files and programs. This much storage will last a lifetime for most users, as 1.5TB fills up very slowly.
The display is nice, as with all of the laptops on the list, 1080p FHD IPS displays are class. A crisp full-HD high-resolution screen, while having bright, vibrant, and accurate colors on the IPS panel which also provides wide viewing angles.
The laptop suffers from a 60Hz refresh rate which only allows it to produce 60 FPS, therefore not using the GTX 1060 at its maximum potential.
The design of the machine is very gamer-like with angles and sharp edges. The backlit keyboard makes it easier to work in the dark and improves the look of the laptop.
Overall, the laptop is a nice addition to the list with its great specs and pretty design. It is a little bit basic and bare-bones if you will, but other than that it’s a great machine.
Dell G3 15 (Runs well at low to medium graphics settings)
CPU: Intel Core i5-8300H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti | RAM: 16GB DDR4 | Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS | Storage: 512GB SSD | Battery: 6 Hours | Dimensions: 14.96 x 10.16 x 0.89 inches | Weight: 5.57 lbs
Good CPU and GPU
Lots of RAM
Too little storage
This laptop is a prime example of a laptop that doesn’t break the bank while performing beautifully.
This machine is the best budget laptop on our list. It encompasses the Intel Core i5-8300H CPU with 4 cores and 8 threads, thanks to the Intel Hyper-Threading technology. It is a budget CPU that demolishes CPU-heavy tasks and provides amazing value for the money.
With it comes the GTX 1050 Ti GPU. This great budget card is very valuable and produces up to 100 FPS on Overwatch at high and ultra graphics presets. It is a great GPU for any game as it will be able to run any AAA title at 60+ FPS on high settings. It is an amazing all-around GPU for great value and performance.
The RAM on the laptop is an average of 16GBs. As said before, an amount of memory that largely allows for multitasking with the most demanding software. You can have a video editor open while also browsing the web while running Overwatch in the background.
The laptop’s storage is only 512GB of SSD space, however, the price range doesn’t allow for much more than this. It is still a large amount of it, it just might not last a very long time for some people. Since it is an SSD, that allows for lightning-fast boot times and file transfers.
The display on the laptop is a regular 1080p FHD IPS screen, it is 60Hz which is low compared to other laptops. However, it still produces a crystal clear image with beautiful colors and wide viewing angles, thanks to the IPS panel.
The laptop design is clean and simple, it is mostly black with blue accents. The lid is all matte black with a blue Dell logo on it.
Around the keyboard is a checkerboard pattern of grey and light grey which looks nice and not overwhelming.
The keyboard is also backlit, and the light is blue. The touchpad is surrounded by a thin metal bezel, and by the display, there is a grey “G3” logo.
Generally, this laptop is very simple, but contains a lot of great value and specs and would suit anyone who needs power to game and do work at the same time.
Lenovo IdeaPad L340 (Also very smooth at low to medium settings)
CPU: Intel Core i5-9300H | GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 | RAM: 8GB DDR4 | Screen: 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS | Storage: 512GB SSD | Battery: 3 Hours | Dimensions: 14.29 x 10.02 x 0.94 inches | Weight: 4.84 lbs
Great CPU and GPU
Too little RAM and storage
Short battery life
This is the final laptop on our list, this Lenovo IdeaPad L340 was made with specs and design in mind, and that makes it one of the best budget laptops for gaming.
With the Intel Core i5-9300H with 4 cores and 8 threads due to the Intel Hyper-Threading technology, it can plow through CPU-intensive tasks and greatly improve the multitasking ability of the laptop, by spreading out the tasks across the threads and cores.
The machine incorporates the Nvidia GTX 1650 gaming GPU for great FPS in Overwatch (100+ on high settings) and other AAA game titles.
The smoothness of gameplay that the GPU provides makes it one of the best value graphics cards on the market at the moment and can be utilized for productivity, as it is a powerful GPU all-around.
The RAM on this laptop is a little lackluster at only 8GB of DDR4 memory. The machine won’t be able to multitask heavily on demanding software, and you will notice slowdowns when running many programs at once, or opening a large amount of internet browser tabs.
A good piece of information to know is that it can be upgraded by a Lenovo technician if that is needed.
The storage on the laptop is also a little bit low at only 512GB of SSD space. Just like the previous laptop, the price range does limit the amount of storage that the laptop can include.
As with the RAM, a Lenovo technician can upgrade the storage if it comes to that. While it is an SSD, it will make the laptop boot up fast and let file transfer times be short.
The display on this laptop is a 1080p FHD IPS display. As with all of these laptops, a 1080p FHD monitor provides clear images that have no blurring or artifacts. The IPS display provides impeccable colors and viewing angles, however, it is 60Hz.
The battery on the laptop also runs out in only 3 hours which isn’t great.
As for the design, the laptop is similar to the previous one. It has a black brushed aluminum texture covering it with blue accents. That includes a blue Lenovo logo on the back and a blue-backlit keyboard.
Overall, the laptop is a great budget option that can game easily while remaining portable.
